Figure DRD-1 Proportion of acute drug-related deaths that show presence of opiates in the period 2002 to 2004

Notes:

2002-2004 or last year with available information.

In some countries, the ‘National definitions’ of drug-related death include a limited number of cases of deaths indirectly related to drug use. See Methodological notes in 2006 Statistical Bulletin.

(1) In Czech Republic, the 'national definition' includes 71 % of cases due to psychoactive medicines.

Although all cases are included in 'N', in some countries not all cases have information on toxicology. The proportions have been computed as valid percentages (see Table DRD-1).
